2025 NY Fireworks: How to prepare your pet

Nowadays, it’s a well-known fact that animals get stressed out from fireworks. And luckily, more and more conscious people consider that when organizing New Year celebrations❣️🎉🫶🏻

Here is what you can do to prepare and comfort your pets when that time of year comes:

Ideally, be by your pets’ side when the fireworks start. Most animals would sense your calm energy. And your presence, in general, would make them feel more or less protected.

Also, try to take them out as much as possible during the day, so you don’t have to do it when the night falls. Fresh air would not only help them be more relaxed, but this way, you won’t have to take them out in the evening. Depending on where you live, fireworks can sometimes start as soon as it gets dark. They don’t necessarily start when the new year comes! Do keep that in mind. Especially, if you’re going away with your furry fella for the holidays! Before the celebrations start, ensure you find a quiet place in your home, where your buddy could stay when the fireworks start. To make it feel at ease, you can put a soft blanket and cushion there too. Its favorite toys would also help. Thus, you’d create a safe place for the pet, where it can hide if it gets scared.

If you feel your little friend is getting anxious, try to talk to it gently. If possible, stroke it and give it a hug. It might also help to play slow classical music or any serene melody. That has been proven to sooth different types of pets. You may want to read the latest scientific findings on the effect music has on animals.

Does your pet have a history of getting extra nervous in similar situations? Then, it might be a good idea to consult your vet about getting an appropriate tranquillizer.

And last, but not least – do make sure your beloved creature has all the necessary identification in place before the new year celebrations start! According to a research, carried out in the USA, the number of animals, that go missing during fireworks, is unfortunately, much greater than on a normal day of the year…

We hope you and your pets welcome 2025 with JOY & PEACE!

😇
